About The Sarke Chunar Controversy
The controversy gained momentum shortly after the song’s release. With critics and social media users criticising its lyrics and choreography as inappropriate. Singer Armaan Malik described the writing as a “new low,” and legal complaints were filed seeking a ban on the track. In response to mounting pressure, the makers reportedly removed the song from YouTube.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasised that the dignity of women must be upheld. She added that it cannot be compromised under the guise of creativity. In previous hearings, the Commission questioned those involved about their intent, accountability, and awareness. They urged them to prevent similar lapses in the future.
The controversy is linked to the film KD: The Devil, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. It continues to attract attention as authorities examine the responsibilities of artists and creators in producing socially responsible content.
