Bollywood’s legendary choreographer Saroj Khan breathed her last in the wee hours of Friday morning. The 71-year-old choreographer died in a Mumbai hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. Saroj’s daughter Sukaina Khan told PTI that she was laid to rest in Malad around 7 am on Friday morning.

A prayer meet in her remembrance will be held after three days.

Sharing about her mother’s burial, Saroj Khan’s daughter Sukaina Khan told PTI, “We buried her at around 7 am. The prayer meeting will be held after three days.”

Saroj was not keeping well since the past few weeks. She was admitted to Bandra’s Guru Nanak Hospital last week after she complained of breathlessness. “She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2.30 am at the hospital,” Saroj’s nephew Manish Jagwani told PTI.

Popularly known as Masterji, Saroj shaped several actresses’ career in Bollywood. Some of her best works are with Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit. Saroj worked in Bollywood for nearly four decades.

The last bug-budget film she choreographed for was Karan Johar’s ‘Kalank’ which also starred her favourite pupil Madhuri. Popularly known for her work in the films of 80s and 90s, Saroj has apparently choreographed more than 2000 songs in Bollywood.

Saroj is survived by her three children.
