Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and other B-Townies celebrate Neeraj Chopra winning gold at World Athletics Championships

Indian Javelin Throw athlete Neeraj Chopra scripted history late night on August 27 with his gold medal finish at World Athletics Championships. The Olympic gold medalist brought the only medal home at this year’s championships. And as he brought home the glory, Bollywood actors including Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor celebrated his victory.

Celebrations in the country on Neeraj Chopra’s win started early on August 28 morning. Amongst them were also Bollywood actors who basked in the glory that the athlete brought to the nation. Shahid Kapoor took to his Instagram stories to congratulate ‘our world champion’. Kareena said ‘So proud of you’ as she shared a video of Neeraj Chopra at the podium.

Farhan Akhtar also shared in the pride and wrote ‘Onwards and upwards’. Abhishek Bachchan resonated too as he wrote, “Once again Neeraj Chopra fills us with pride as he secures gold at the men’s javelin throw competition at the #WorldAthleticsChampionships.”

Anushka Sharma congratulated the athlete on the ‘remarkable’ achievement. She added, “Such a proud moment for India.” Ayushmann Khurrana applauded Neeraj as he put up a tricolour emoji on a picture of his achievement.

Bhumi Pednekar called Neeraj ‘Starboy’ as she shared the clip of his victorious throw in the competition. Malaika Arora wrote, “Another proud win for India,” as she put up a picture of the ‘golden boy’ holding his medal.

Neeraj has truly brought glory to the country and it is such a nice thing to see the nation basking in that and celebrating the victory.
