A film that has been the talk of the town is Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur’s upcoming sports-drama film, Jersey.  The film was set to release in theatres on December 31, last year. However, the makers decided to postpone the release of the film in the wake of rising cases of COVID-19’s Omicron variant in India.

Now, finally, a new release date has been confirmed and it is set to hit the cinema halls on April 14th. The news was confirmed by Shahid Kapoor on his Twitter. He tweeted: “So so happy to announce that our beloved film #Jersey will be releasing worldwide in theatres on the 14th of April 2022. See you in the theatres.”

With this, Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey will be clashing at the box office with Yash and Sanjay Dutt’s much anticipated Kannada-language period action film, KGF 2, which is also slated to release on the same date.

Meanwhile, Jersey is about a 36-year-old cricketer named Arjun (Shahid) who is aiming to play for the Indian national team to fulfill his son’s desire for a jersey.

For the uninitiated, Jersey happens to be the Bollywood remake of a National Award Winning Telugu sports drama of the same name and featured Nani in the lead. Shahid has stepped into his shoes for the Hindi remake. The film also stars Pankaj Kapur as Shahid Kapoor’s coach. It is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Gowtam had directed the original Telugu version as well.
