Sohum Shah, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Tumbbad 2 To Release On THIS Date; Makers Promise, “Pralay Aayega”

Sohum Shah has finally given fans a concrete update on Tumbbad 2, the long-awaited sequel to the cult horror film Tumbbad. On Wednesday, Sohum Shah took to Instagram and announced the film’s release date along with a new poster. He confirmed that the sequel will arrive in theatres on December 3, 2027. At the same time, he hinted at the film’s thematic continuity with a caption that read, “A sinful past, an ominous future. The hunger rises, the legacy of greed continues…” He also used the hashtag #PralayAayega, reinforcing the dark and mythological tone that defined the first film.

Moreover, the sequel brings a new creative team while retaining the essence of the original world. While the 2018 film was directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the sequel will be helmed by Adesh Prasad. Shah continues to back the project under Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, led by Dr Jayantilal Gada. Pen Marudhar will handle the distribution.

In an official statement, Shah opened up about his connection with the film and his vision for the sequel. He said that Tumbbad remains very special to him and that the second instalment aims to take that world forward in a deeper and larger way. He explained that the film will build on the mythology and atmosphere that audiences connected with, while still offering something new.
