Sooryavanshi: Rohit Shetty CONFIRMS Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s cop drama to release on Diwali 

Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will finally see the light of the day. The film was supposed to release in March 2020; however, the COVID-19 pandemic played the spoilsport which delayed the release of the film due to a complete lockdown. However, the filmmaker Rohit Shetty waited for the day when the theatres will be reopened for people. Now, having said that, Rohit Shetty took to his Instagram account and has confirmed that Sooryavanshi will release this Diwali in the cinema halls. That’s right! Sooryavanshi will have a Diwali release.

Rohit recently met the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Udhhav Thackeray in the city. Presumably, after a fruitful discussion, Rohit has zeroed down on a release date. Announcing this big news, Shetty shared a photo with the CM and captioned it with, “Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE…” Even Akshay who will be essaying the role of DCP Veer Sooryavanshi and chief of the anti-terrorism squad in the film, shared a behind-the-scenes picture on Instagram, announcing its arrival. 

Kumar wrote, “So many families would be thanking Sh Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashtra from Oct 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi – AA RAHI HAI POLICE #Sooryavanshi #Diwali2021”

Whereas the producer of the film, Karan Johar also shared this happy news with his fans and followers, captioning, “Theatres to open in Maharashtra effective from the the 22nd of October Finally we can say AA RAHI HAI POLICE!!! #Sooryavanshi A @itsrohitshetty film! This DIWALI!!!”

Meanwhile, Katrina plays the role of Sooryavanshi’s wife in the film. Since it is another cop universe film, we will also see interesting cameos as Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as Singham while Ranveer Singh will come as Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama.
