When asked about his collaboration with Akshay Kumar for a patriotic film, which could be the best, Suniel Shetty said, “Hera Pheri. Yeh film desh ko khush rakh sakta hai. Aajkal ke bacho ko yahi dikkat hai ki woh mentally khush nahi ho sakte hai. Hera Pheri aap logo ke liye hai Taaki aap mentally khush raho. Humaare desh mein jo bhi hai woh extraordinary tha. It’s the best, hum logo ko haasate hai, khilaate hai, gareebi mein bhi haasate hai. Aur Babu Bhaai jaise ek partner mil jaaye toh aap puchna mat.”

About Hera Pheri

Hera Pheri is a 2000 Indian Hindi-language heist comedy drama film. It was directed by Priyadarshan and written by Neeraj Vora, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Om Puri and Gulshan Grover. The film is a remake of the 1989 Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking. It was inspired by the 1971 American TV movie See the Man Run. The plot revolves around two tenants, Raju and Shyam, and their landlord, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, who are in desperate need of money. They chance upon a ransom call through a cross-connection and hatch a plan to claim the ransom for themselves. The film was released on 31 March 2000. It spawned a sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006. Over the years, the film has evolved into a cult classic. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian comedy films ever made.
