Films like ‘Ludo’, and ‘Chhalaang’ are slated to release in this Diwali week. Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Laxmii’ has already released on November 9 on Disney+Hotstar. Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ is having a theatrical release on November 15.

We recently had a conversation with director Abhishek Sharma and asked him how he views the market equation in terms of competition with these movies, to which he said that Covid is the competition right now and not anybody else.

Sharma said, “There is no market equation. We are planning and hoping because the conversation is still going on with the multiplexes and theatres because Maharashtra has still not open. So, Zee is figuring out the logistics of it. But if God willing if everything goes as per plan and we release in theatres, then there is no competition in theatres because OTT is a separate platform and people can watch it whenever they want to and they can enjoy those films as well. Theatre is something which is in the litmus test because people have to come out from their houses and pay to watch. So, the competition is with Covid-19 and not with anybody else. I am looking forward to ‘Laxmii’ being a big fan of Akshay sir and I am happy that these films are coming on OTT.”

He added, “The main factor for us is the Covid and the lockdown and the baggage that comes with Covid. So, hopefully, we will fight it out in the theatres and release it as per plan.”
