Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Chhichhore that ruled the box office back in 2019 is all set to hit the Chinese theatres nationwide on Jan. 7, 2022. Chhichhore will become the first Indian film to release in Chinese theatres two years after the ban.

Chhichhore is directed and co-written by Nitesh Tiwari. His last movie with Aamir Khan, Dangal was quite the smashing hit in China. The movie had garnered a business of $193 million in 2017. The Chinese authorities have maintained silence when it comes to Hollywood blockbusters Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage being shown on the silver screens.

Chhichhore will release in China a week before Keanu Reeves and Priyanka Chopra starrer The Matrix Resurrections on January 14. The movie will be facing 5 of the local competitors like G Storm, Embrace Again as well as Hi, Mom. The Chinese film market had given quite the unexpected business to Indian movies with Dangal grossing a total of Rs. 1000 crores at the China box office. Dangal had collected almost Rs. 387.38 crore at the Indian box office making the Chinese business an added catalyst.

Nitesh Tiwari will have his second movie released in China with Chhichhore which also starred Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma. The movie had collected a business of Rs. 153.09 crore at the domestic box office. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, a source revealed, “Closer to the release date, we’ll get an idea about the number of screens and other such information. However, it’ll surely be a proper release that a Hindi film gets in China. The industry and trade will be looking forward to seeing how it performs in China considering that its first Indian film to release there, after the pandemic.”
