Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: PIL filed in Supreme Court requesting a status report on CBI’s investigation

Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14 and the CBI has been investigating his death case ever since. A drug probe had emerged from the said case but now a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a status report on the case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

A report by ANI read, “PIL filed in Supreme Court seeking direction to CBI to submit a status report in late actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case.”

Advocate Vineet Dhanda moved the plea to the apex court urging the court to ask the CBI to complete the investigation within two months and submit a report. According to a report by IANS, the please read, “the top court posed serious faith on the premier investigative agency of the country and directed an investigation into the unnatural death of late actor, as his death shook the entire country and even the fans abroad got a setback due to untimely and unnatural death of Rajput.”

It further read, “This Court passed an order for CBI enquiry on August 19, 2020 and despite a lapse of almost four months, the CBI is yet to conclude its investigation and all the eager family members, fans, well-wishers of the late actor are yet to get a solace regarding the exact reason of the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.” The petition further read, “The CBI is not acting responsibly in the present case and there is a delay in the conclusion of the investigation of the case”.

The petition also said that the delay is bringing a bad name to the administration of justice, “even in serious offences like murder, the law stipulates filing of chargesheets in 90 days but in the present case, the premier investigating agency has failed miserably in their role and the unnecessary delay in the case is bringing bad name to the administration of justice not only in our country but across the globe.”

Earlier, the death case was being investigated by the Mumbai Police but after the late actor’s family filed an FIR, the CBI stepped in and have been on the case since then.
