Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14. Since then the actor’s family has been fighting for justice as they do not believe that he committed suicide. During the investigation, questions were raised on Mumbai Police’s way of handling the case. Now, Vikas Singh, the advocate who is representing Sushant’s father said that the family were forced to sign statements in Marathi by Mumbai Police.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Vikas Singh said, “The family has never given any statement of Sushant dying by suicide. These statements were recorded by the Mumbai Police in Marathi. The family also objected, ‘Please don’t write in Marathi if you want us to sign.’ They were forced to sign a statement written in Marathi. They had no clue of what was being written.”

He further added, “We have not been supplied that statement. We don’t know what was recorded by the Mumbai Police, we know what we said.”

He also said that a translation was not read out to the family as well. “The statement was just written in Marathi, that’s it. There was nothing read out to anybody. Even if you read out in Marathi… If I write something in a language you don’t know and I then read out whatever I want you to hear… If I don’t know Marathi, how will I check if what you are telling me is what is written? It’s simple logic!.” the senior lawyer said.

However, according to a report by NDTV, Sushant’s father KK Singh in a statement to Mumbai Police had said, “I am not aware as to why my son Sushant has committed suicide. He never discussed with me regarding any type of depression or tension. I do not have any suspicion of or any complaint against Sushant. I feel that Sushant might have done suicide out of dejection. My statement was written in Marathi and explained to me in Hindi and it is correct as I told.”

Stay tuned to this space to know what Mumbai Police has to say about these allegations made by Vikas Singh.
