Sushmita Sen recalls her father’s reaction after she joined the Miss India Pageant: He didn’t speak to me

Sushmita Sen is one of the most loved and celebrated actresses in the entertainment industry. Yesterday, on 19th November, Sushmita turned 48. Time and again, Sushmita has left her fans and followers mighty impressed with her choice of movies and series. Recently, she starred in Taali and Aarya 3 and left everyone shell-shocked. Now, in a recent interview, the actress has opened up about her father’s reaction to her participation in the Miss India pageant.

Sushmita Sen reveals her father’s reaction to her Miss India pageant participation

In an interview with Mid-Day, Sushmita Sen shared that she did not ever imagine becoming an actress and that she stumbled upon the prestigious pageant. The Taali actress’ father, an Indian Army Officer wanted his daughter to become an IAS officer, and she started preparing for it. Sushmita shared that there was nobody from the film industry in her family.

Sushmita shared, “When the bomb was dropped on my father that she wants to enter Miss India, my father didn’t speak to me for a bit. I remember having this very emotional moment with my father when I promised him, ‘Baba I have to wear a swimsuit. I cannot not wear it. It’s part of the show.”

Further, she also revealed that she never did go to college and graduate. This turned out to be a big problem with her father. Sushmita recalled when her father had told her to do anything she wants, but also get a degree. The Taali actress added that she made her daughter Renee also get her degree. Further, Sushmita added that she got an honorary doctorate degree recently which her father had gone to receive it. She said, “I was sick as a dog that day. How apt that he received the doctorate from Mr. Narayana Murthy.” 

Sushmita Sen was last seen in Aarya 3 and Taali. Aarya 3 is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
