Twitterati slam Farhan Akhtar for displaying his name on PPE kits donated by his fans for frontline warriors

Being a celeb can land you in dicey situations as people tend to criticize you no matter what. Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar recently shared pictures of PPE kit donations made by the contribution of his fans. However, netizens slammed the ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ director for pasting his name on all the cartons of the donations. Twitterati schooled the actor about how charity should not be glamorised.

Thanking his fans and followers for contributing and donating PPE kits for the frontline warriors in this Covid-19 pandemic, Farhan took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “Happy to share that our consignment of PPE kits leaves for the Cama Hospital, Mumbai. Lots of love & gratitude to all who contributed. This will help to keep our medics at the frontline safe! Jai Hind. You too can support the effort by donating at tring.co.in/Farhan-Akhtar (sic)”

However, netizens slammed the actor-filmmaker for pasting his names in bold on donations made by his fans. One of the users pointed, “Fans se donation le kar, apna naam BADA BADA likh kar, pic social media pe daal rhe. Gajab ka social work hai tumhara (sic).” Whereas another user commented, “If you guys are really doing it, then is it necessary to make a show for media? Can’t we do humanity without taking pictures or making our ego satisfied (sic).” One user went ahead and said how these celebs are taking donations for making donations!

While a section of the netizens slammed the actor, there were others who came out in his support and lauded his initiative. “If they don’t show pictures you bhakts say aaah he is just doing politics he never helped anyone. If they show pictures now you are saying don’t show off. Madam or whoever you are it’s their wish to do it or not. You just bug off,” wrote one user in Farhan’s support.
