Shershaah, Vikram Batra's parents

Captain Vikram Batra’s parents Giridhar Lal and Kamal Kanta Batra are very pleased and happy with how the movie Shershaah has turned out. They also loved Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s acting in their son’s biopic. In an interview with Times of India, Vikram Batra’s father said, “Shershaah is a very nice, well-made film. I think Sidharth and Kiara have done a very good job. Sidharth’s entry is very nice as well. Vishnu Vardhan has directed it very well.”

When asked whether family members were involved in the film’s casting, Giridhar Lal Batra said there were many names that came up but finally they decided on Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani. He added how Sidharth is a Punjabi Khatri and was happy with the choice of casting him. They were fine with Kiara’s casting too.

His father also shared how they earlier had apprehensions about the biopic. He added how they had a similar hesitation even when J P Dutta had come to them for LOC: Kargil. Their family members revealed that they told the makers to not show him in the wrong way. He revealed that everything was done amicably and reasonably.

When asked about Dimple Cheema, Vikram Batra’s parents spoke fondly of Dimple Cheema and revealed that she calls them up on their birthdays. He said, “Vikram had told us about Dimple and their intention of getting married. I told him that I was with them in their decision. I knew from the start that Dimple is a very respectful girl who understands relationships. After the Kargil war, we told her to get married as she has a life ahead. Her parents too told her the same. But she told us that she wouldn’t get married and live the rest of her life with Vikram’s memories.”

For the unversed, Sidharth Malhotra plays the role of Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra, while Kiara Advani plays his fiancee Dimple Cheema. The film, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is earning praises from all quarters.
