Vipul Amrutlal Shah Wins 16-Year-Long Cheque Bounce Case!
In a landmark legal victory, filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah has successfully won a 16-year-long cheque dishonour case tied to the 2009 film London Dreams. The Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri, in its order dated April 15, 2026, delivered a decisive judgment. Moreover, bringing closure to a prolonged legal battle that began over a decade and a half ago.
What Was The Case?
In 2009, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, through his Company Sunshine Pictures Private Limited, lent a loan to the Producers to complete their film. The repayment cheque issued by the Producers was dishonoured by their bank when presented. After a grueling process that took 16 years, the Learned Magistrate of the Metropolitan Court, Andheri, vide an order. Dated 15th April, 2026, they held the Producers, Mr PJ Singh and his wife, Mrs Gita Bhalla Singh, guilty. And, convicted them for an offense punishable under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881. The Producers were ordered to pay within 90 days or face imprisonment of 9 months.
A powerful reminder stands tall through this case: justice delayed is, indeed, not justice denied.
