Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s production company, Tiger Baby Digital LLP, reportedly faced a data theft valued at Rs 13 lakh at its Mumbai office. Founded in 2015 by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, Tiger Baby Films is known for acclaimed projects such as Gully Boy and Made In Heaven.
Rs 13 Lakh Data Stolen From Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti’s Production House
As reported by Hindustan Times, an employee working at the company’s Mumbai office has been arrested in connection with the incident. Mehjabeen Mushtaq Shaikh, 36, who served as an executive assistant for the production house, filed an FIR regarding the theft. Shaikh explained that the company stores hard drives containing all production-related material—raw footage, edited scenes, promotional content, and finished films—at its office premises.
Shaikh admitted, “I initially organised and stored the hard drives in one of the cupboards.” Over time, however, these hard drives were handed over to employee Shahid Khan. He was responsible for managing and storing them.
The theft was uncovered on May 21 when other staff members asked Khan to bring one of the hard drives. When Khan failed to produce the drive, suspicion arose, prompting colleagues to inspect the storage cupboard. During the search, they reportedly discovered that several hard drives were missing.
Shaikh also claimed, “I found partially burnt packaging boxes inside the cupboard.” He added, “There was no sign of burning anywhere in the cupboard.” After this the production house owners were informed about the situation.
Sale Of Hard Drives
It has been reported that, during police questioning, Khan confessed to the theft. He admitted to stealing 24 hard drives over the past five months. He reportedly told police he sold each drive for Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 to a man named Ritesh in Borivali. However, an internal audit revealed that a total of 119 hard drives had gone missing.
