It looks like festivals and holidays are not doing magic to Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan at the box office. During the Raksha Bandhan festival, two mega films clashed at the box office, adding an extra advantage as it was an extended weekend and yet they failed to mint money at the box office. Nevertheless, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer is performing better than Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer.

Laal Singh Chaddha which is a remake of Forrest Gump earned Rs 10 crores on its first opening weekend, thus, crossing the 30 crore mark. The grand total becomes Rs 37.96 crores. On the other hand, Raksha Bandhan minted Rs 7.05 crores, making the grand total to Rs 28.16 crores. Considering that it is Independence Day today, it is to be seen how both the films perform at the box office.
