Ajay Devgn

Actor Ajay Devgn is gung-ho about his Diwali release ‘Golmaal Again’. However, with excitement comes nervousness and one wonders if the actor who has been associated with the franchise from the start would be under pressure to meet the expectations of the audience. The actor, however, seems unperturbed. In a recent media interaction, he was asked if there is an added pressure considering the fact that Aamir Khan’s movie ‘Secret Superstar’ is also releasing around the same.

He seemed all relaxed as he replied, “Not really. Two different genres altogether. Hopefully, that film will also be good and Diwali is a period when people watch more. Because people really want to get entertained in Diwali. ‘Golmaal’ is something which you would watch with your whole family. So, there will be certain kind of audience which would want to watch that film also.” (Also Read: Ajay and Ileana’s ‘Raid’ now has a release date)

He was further asked about the scenarios when two big-budget movies had clashed at the box office, and ended up harming the business of each other. He replied, “Which were the two big films which clashed and one didn’t work? When does it happen? Like ‘Gadar’ and ‘Lagaan’ released on the same day both worked, both were good films. Now, give me one example of where the film has not worked, but the film is good.” Citing an example, he says, “‘Golmaal Returns’ and ‘Fashion’ both worked. Both were good films and both worked.”

When further asked if he feels that there is a gap that is widening between the single screen and the multiplex audience, he replied, “It’s actually getting shorter. You see I have been noticing this that the film has opened very well in a multiplex, in a single screen. If it’s dropped in a single screen, it will drop in a multiplex also. See, exposure is happening for everybody. The masses also, they have exposure to net and everything. So, they are also evolving. There will be a time where we will be quite close.”
