Yesterday, the news of filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi getting hospitalised made it to the headlines. The ace filmmaker who has directed films like ‘Chingaari’, ‘Kyon’ and many more has been battling with kidney cancer since a few years. As per reports, she has been bedridden since six months and her health deteriorated on Monday due to which she was taken to the hospital. Stars like Aamir Khan, Rohit Shetty and many others came to her rescue and extended financial aid to take care of her hospital billing.

Now, in an interview with a news agency, Kalpana Lajmi has given an update on her health. When asked how is she feeling, the filmmaker jokingly said that her kidneys have failed, but she hasn’t. “Well, my kidneys have failed. I haven’t (laughs). I am far from done, my dear. I had to be rushed into the ICU. But I am recovering well now. I got a call from the greatest Lataji (Mangeshkar) in hospital. She offered me all her assistance. I said I only need her blessings.” her quote read.

When probed why was she rushed to the hospital, she quoted, “It was just one of those strenuous weeks, I guess. Otherwise I am doing fine. I need dialysis four times a week. That’s a helluva strain on me financially and physically. I’ve no money. But generous people from the film industry like Aamir Khan, Rohit Shetty, Salman Khan and my dearest and closest friends, Neena Gupta, Soni Razdan have kept me going.
