Rajpal admits to being typecast in the industry

Rajpal said, “Dekhiye aap apni shakal surat, apni body height kuch nahi badal sakte. Lekin script mein ek hi cheez aapko joh milti hai gift mein charitra jeene ke liye. Agar har aadmi alag hai, toh har charitra ki mansikta bhi alag hai. Toh mansikta play kar sakte hai. Toh alag alag mansikta ke character play karne ka soubhaya joh mila, ya aap kahe ek jaise character mile toh unko alag alag mansiktaon mein dalke jeeya. (You can’t change your face, body or height. But the only thing in the script is you get the passion to live the character. If every person is different, then the mentality of every character is different. I got the opportunities to play different characters. Or you say that if I got a chance to play same type of characters but differently).”

The actor went on to add, “Mera yeh manna hai ki ek actor ka bohot bada role hota hai apne aap ko typecast naa dikhaye. Mujhe mere height ke liye ek jaise role milte chalu hue. Jungle toh jungli jaise role. Ek Chup Chup jaisa role hai ya Hungama jaisa role hai, lekin uske baad bhi hum as an actor nahi, ek student of acting hai. Mera abhi dus percent bhi use nahi hua hai. (I believe that an actor has a big role in not getting typecasted. I started getting similar roles due to my height. If the roles are like Chup Chup Ke, Hungama. But even after that, we are not actors but student of acting).”

On the work front, Rajpal has Welcome To The Jungle which also stars Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty among others. Welcome To The Jungle will hit the theatres on 20th December, 2024.
