Jana Nayagan Box Office Day 1: Vijay’s Last Film Opens Lower Than Beast, GOAT; Mints Just Over Rs 40 Cr

In detail, Jana Nayagan was screened across 13,067 shows in India, resulting in a net collection of Rs 41 crore and a gross of Rs 48.27 crore domestically. The film’s international earnings include Rs 36.50 crore from Tamil, Rs 2.75 crore from Telugu, and Rs 1.75 crore from Hindi.

Despite these numbers, the film did not match the opening-day collections of Vijay’s previous blockbusters like Beast (Rs 49.30 crore) and GOAT (Rs 44 crore), nor did it enter the list of Tamil films that opened with Rs 50 crore or more.

Trade experts have weighed in on the film’s performance. Ramesh Bala estimated an opening of Rs 60 crore in India and Rs 90 crore globally. He projected a weekend total of Rs 150–180 crore in India and Rs 250 crore worldwide. Taran Adarsh also hinted at a “thunderous” opening, though he refrained from providing specific figures.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is reportedly Vijay’s final acting project and was initially envisioned as a farewell film before the upcoming elections. The production, by KVN Productions, reportedly had a budget of Rs 500 crore. The film features a star-studded cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
