Aahana Kumra On Death, R*pe Threats By Pawan Singh’s Fans

When asked about the death, r*pe threats she received from Pawan Singh’s fans, Aahana Kumra said, “Jab main show se bahar nikli, then I had a lot of death threats and r*pe threats. I even sent screenshots to the makers showing the kind of threats I was receiving. So why was I getting such threats? Maine toh aisi koi baat nahi kahi thi. Maine na kisi ko gaali di thi show mein, na hi kuch aur. It happened to me, and I was like, oh wow, hum log kaunse zamane mein reh rahe hain? Kis sadi mein hain ki meri ek baat kehne par mujhe itne threats mil rahe hain, itni cheezein mere baare mein boli ja rahi hain—par kisi aur ko kuch nahi kaha ja raha.”

Continuing, she said, “So as a woman, you realise ki because I never played the victim card, I didn’t go around crying like, ‘Arre, aap log mere baare mein…’ No, that’s not me. Toh main kyon portray karun jo main ho hi nahi? I think maine sirf apne baare mein Arjun se baat ki thi, and many times I spoke to him. But I never went and cried in front of people. Jab meri anxiety ke baare mein baatein boli gayi thi, jab meri health conditions aur mental balance ke baare mein cheezein boli gayi thi, tab maine saamne sabko confront kiya. I think I have confronted people many times. Aur woh baat bahut logon ko digest nahi hui, because main video diary mein bitching nahi karti thi, main unke muh pe bol deti thi: ‘Bhai, mere baare mein aap aisa kyun bol rahe ho?'”

Aahana Recalls Watching Videos Altering Her Words

The actress shared, “So, when that happened and when I came out of the show, maine kaafi videos dekhe jahan mere muh pe bubble lagakar kuch dikhaya gaya jaise maine kaha ho. And I was like—maine kahan bola yeh show mein? Please mujhe time stamp dikhaiye. If I really said it, show me. And they took those videos down and even apologised to me. So I wasn’t on the show to get death threats or r*pe threats. Main show mein contestant ke taur pe aayi thi, aur main game play kar rahi thi jaise sab kar rahe the. So why am I being subjected to something like that, right? It’s not fair to me. This is unfair. But okay, I addressed it, and it was taken care of. And I am grateful to the makers for handling that so gracefully.”

Aahana Kumra On Dealing With Threats

Speaking of these threats coming from Pawan Singh’s fans, the actress added, “It was about Pawan ji (When asked which contestant’s fans sent her these threats). Maine kuch aisa bola tha jo unke fans ko accha nahi laga tha. But woh toh baat humne clear kar li thi. In fact, today I hold him in high regard, kyunki bahut contestants ne mere baare mein bahut kuch kaha aur aaj tak sorry nahi bola. Pawan ji ek aise place se aate hain jahan se main bhi hoon—we both are from Lucknow.”

Concluding she said, “Aur yeh baat meri unse pehle din hi hui thi. Jab maine unki maa ke pair chuye, at the end of it, he actually noticed that. Imagine, he noticed that and on stage he said, ‘Agar main aapse sorry bol doon toh main chhota nahi ho jaunga.’ So jab meri aur unki sulah ho gayi thi, unhone mujhe sorry bola, maine bhi unko sorry bola stage pe, and we ended it there. So jab hum dono ne woh baat khatam kar di, logon ko bhi woh baat khatam kar deni chahiye thi. But theek hai, I understand ki log gussa ho jaate hain, aur unhe lagta hai ki maine kuch aisa keh diya jo unhe bura laga.”
