EXCLUSIVE: Bigg Boss 18 Fame Yamini Malhotra Opens Up On Making Her South Comeback; Says, “Stories Are Bigger, Bolder, Rooted In…”

Actress Yamini Malhotra is known for her grace, screen charm, and bubbly personality, is now setting her heart on South Indian cinema. After a vibrant stint on Bigg Boss 18, where audiences connected with her fun-loving, entertaining nature, and her recent Bollywood debut in Chill Maar na Bro, Yamini feels the timing is just right to enter South cinema — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films.

Yamini Malhotra On South Indian Cinema 

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Yamini said, “The stories being told in South Indian cinema today are bigger, bolder, and rooted in emotional truth. There’s so much beauty in the writing, the vision, and the depth of characters. And now, I finally feel I’m ready as an actor and as a person to be part of that.”

Yamini’s journey with cinema began with a remarkable start, a double debut one in Telugu and one in Punjabi, both releasing on the same day.  She recalled, “It was exciting and surreal. But naturally, I leaned more toward Punjabi films at that time as I was comfortable with the language, I knew the people, and it gave me a safe space to grow.”

Despite having deep respect for South Indian cinema, she admits that she took a step back then. She added, “I was in awe, but also slightly intimidated because of language barrier. I wasn’t ready at that time. Now, after so many life and work experiences, I can proudly say, I am.”

Over the years, Yamini has made a space for herself not just with her acting, but with her infectious energy and vibrant personality. She said, “People know me for being fun, expressive, and full of life. Whether it’s on reality TV, film sets, or public events, I carry that energy with me but there’s also a very grounded, passionate side to me that thrives on serious, meaningful work.”

A trained dental surgeon who transitioned into cinema, Yamini made her mark with Telugu film Chuttalabbai and has continued to grow across industries. Now, with more maturity, clarity, and emotional readiness, she’s looking to make a purposeful comeback to the South, this time not as a newcomer, but as an artist with intent.

“It’s no longer just about screen time or a role. It’s about the script, the emotion, the message. South cinema gives actors that space to explore — and I’m genuinely drawn to that now”, she concluded. 

Are South India films are we ready to welcome her back? Well, We’ve seen her sparkle in reality TV, shine in Bollywood, and rule hearts in Punjabi cinema but are we ready to see Yamini Malhotra light up South screens once again.
