EXCLUSIVE: Divyanka Tripathi on motherhood: “I’d have adopted a baby if Vivek wouldn’t have come into my life”

Actor Divyanka Tripathi is one of the most popular actresses on Television. She has become a household name after starring in Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. But she gained immense love and appreciation when she did the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein show. It was one of the highest-rated shows back then. Apart from professional life, Divyanka was even grabbing headlines for her marriage with Vivek Dahiya. Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya tied the knot on July 8, 2016, after falling in love on the sets of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Speaking about her relationship and her bond with Vivek, Divyanka revealed that she almost made up her mind to adopt a baby post her breakup with Sharad Malhotra.

In the sixth episode of Let’s Talk With Bollywood Bubble podcast, Divyanka very nicely had a heartfelt conversation, opening up about her feelings. She spoke about her past and her courtship period with her husband Vivek.

While speaking about her break-up phase with Sharad Malhotra, Divyanka said that she started loving herself more. However, she then made a huge statement saying, “Agar Vivek uss samay nahi mile hote, I would have actually adopted a baby. Main wo zone mein jaa rahi thi ki I want love and want to give love. I just wanted a companion jisko main pyaar de saku aur jo mujhko pyaar de sake.” (If Vivek would not have been at that time, I would have actually adopted a baby. I was going into the zone of wanting love and wanting to give love. I wanted a companion to whom I could give love and somebody who could give me love.)

When asked about how she envisions herself as a mother, Divyanka said, “I would like to be a mother at some point of time because it’s beautiful. Yeh jo power hai, of becoming a mother, conceiving a child, yeh bahot hi precious hai aur ye aurat jaat ki khush-kismati hai, ki hume ye power mili hai. Toh, zaroor kabhi naa kabhi mai isse experience karna chahungi. Kehte hai power comes with huge responsibility, so it will be a huge responsibility giving time to that child. Hume lagta hai ke abhi hume thoda aur waqt chahiye. Wo waqt jab sahi aayega, tab we will take the plunge.” (The power of becoming a mother and conceiving a child is precious and women are lucky to have this power. So, someday I would also like to experience this. We think we need some time more. We will take the plunge when the time is right)

While talking to us on the podcast, Divyanka shared…”Aur main uss samay tak serious zone mein aa chuki thi, mujh mein himmat nahi bachchi thi ki I go meet and date people. Thankfully wo bhi ussi zone main the, unhe bhi ek serious relationship chahiye tha. Agar hamara work kar jaata toh humne socha tha ki it will work wonders for us if we do strike a chemistry. And that’s why, we gave it a chance. Humne puri koshish ki do teen mahine tak hum milte rahe lagatar taaki ek dusre ke flaws pata lage. But wo do-teen mulakatein hi thi jab mann kar raha tha ki pyaar ka izhaar karde. But we restrained from doing that for all that time, taaki hum ache se ek dusre ko parakh sake.”
