Krishna Shroff has steadily carved her own identity in the entertainment and fitness space over the years. While she initially gained attention as the daughter of Jackie Shroff and sister of Tiger Shroff, Krishna went on to build a strong fanbase through her work in fitness entrepreneurship and reality television. She became especially popular after emerging as a finalist in all three reality shows she participated in- Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, Chhoriyan Chali Gaon and Banijay’s The 50.
Krishna Shroff Says She’s ‘Happy’ She Didn’t Win Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, The 50
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Krishna opened up about reality shows, nepotism, scripted television debates, losing competitions, and staying authentic on screen. Scroll on to know what the actress had to share.
Talking about consistently reaching the finale stage in every reality show but never winning, Krishna Shroff admitted she does not regret it at all. In fact, she feels relieved about not winning because of the conversations around nepotism. She said, “Can I just be honest? So I’m being so honest over here. I’m kind of happy I didn’t win because I would never hear the end of nepotism. So I’m good with coming second. I’m all right with that.”
She further explained that despite not winning, making a mark as a newcomer in the reality space already felt like a major achievement. She said, “It happens everywhere you go. But no, jokes apart, honestly. I think for me just being so new in this world and being able to make a mark and get that as far as I did, I think is a huge win for me.”
Opening up about her mindset while participating in the shows, Krishna revealed that surviving till the finale mattered more to her than lifting the trophy. “So even all the shows that I did, my only goal was to be there till the end. I wanted to be a finalist. I’m a very competitive person, but winning shows like that is really difficult. It’s not easy, you know. Sitting on your couch in your living room at home, you can look at the screen and judge and be like, ‘I can do that. I can do this,’ which is what I did before going on Khatron. But it’s a lot harder when you’re actually there doing it and living it.”
Krishna Reveals Her Biggest Focus Was To Connect With The Audience
She added that her biggest focus was always to connect with audiences and stay true to herself despite the pressure and chaos around reality television. Saying, “So my only goal was to get there till the end, to be able to at least register in the audience’s minds, to connect with people, to make the most of the experience and to also just challenge myself. But I genuinely didn’t have winning in my mind for any of them. I just wanted to be there till the end.”
Speaking about authenticity on reality television, Krishna shared that she never believed in creating a fake personality or playing a pre-planned character for cameras. “A lot of people go on these shows with a pre-planned character and the way they want to present themselves, but you can never expect the scenarios that are going to be thrown at you. So how can you plan any of that or who you’re going to be? My whole thing about being on reality TV is just being myself because I want people to connect with me for who I am.”
She further added that staying authentic throughout all three reality shows remains one of her biggest personal victories. “I was able to do that through all three shows, amongst a lot of craziness and chaos. That’s a huge win for me already.”
Krishna Shroff Clarifies: Are Reality Shows Scripted?
Krishna also addressed the long-running debate around reality shows being scripted. Dismissing the idea completely, she clarified that while contestants may sometimes behave differently because cameras are around, the experiences themselves are very real. “No, it’s all really real, man.”
Explaining her point further, Krishna said the ‘scripted’ aspect often comes more from people than from the actual format of the shows. “See, that’s not the shows, that’s the people. So, when it comes to the shows, everything’s as real as it can be. With a show like Khatron, those little reality bits that they throw in for entertainment, that’s scripted. But when it comes to the stunts, it’s as real as it can get.”
For Krishna, the unpredictability of reality television is exactly what makes it exciting. She said, “I feel that’s what makes it so fun for me. If I wanted to do fiction, I’d do fiction. I have many opportunities too. But the fact that this is non-scripted, it’s real. You get to react to situations on the spot spontaneously as you. That’s the fun part of reality for me.”
Krishna Shroff On Nepotism
Opening up further about nepotism in the reality TV industry, Krishna admitted that contestants still need to prove themselves regardless of family background. “I feel like you do have to prove yourself in this space. They either want you or they don’t. I think the makers are pretty clear in their heads about what they want, who they want and for what show they want. They’ll go for that.”
She concluded by saying that reality show makers usually prioritise suitability and vision over surnames. “They’re not going to take someone because of their dad’s name or their family’s name because they already have a specific vision and plan in mind. So in that sense, definitely not.”
