On Thursday, July 3, the creators of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana unveiled the universe of the Hindu epic with the global launch of Ramayana: The Introduction. The 3-minute long teaser beautifully set the stage for the timeless battle between two of mythology’s most iconic forces: Rama vs Ravana. While the audience eagerly wait to see Ranbir Kapoor and Yash face-off in the legendary battle of good and evil, reports concerning the money invested in making the film has also made the headlines.
While initially it was reported the the epic – releasing in two parts, costed the makers around Rs 800 for the installment releasing in Diwali 2026, another report claimed the cost of making both parts is an astonishing Rs 1,600 Cr. However, these numbers are way below the actual budget invested in making the Ramayana. Scroll below to know the real amount.
Ramayana Real Budget Out
As per a Bollywood Bubble source the actual budget – for both parts combined, is way more that Rs 1,600 Cr. An insider has informed us that the actually budget of the upcoming epic – also starring Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey as Goddess Sita, Hanuman and Lakshman, is in fact Rs 4,000 Cr. This number is 5x the original Rs 800 Cr and 2.5x the reported Rs 1,600 Cr amount.
As per the same source, the audience will be in for a treat in Diwali 2025. Why? Well, after intriguing the fans with a 3-minute teaser, the makers are set to release a 7-minute-long trailer during the festive time.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and 8-time Oscar winning VFX studio DNEG in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film features some of India’s biggest stars such as Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film – which unites some of Hollywood and India’s most celebrated talent in a partnership like never seen before, is being filmed for IMAX. It will release worldwide in 2 parts – Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
