Riteish Deshmukh On Film Critics

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Riteish Deshmukh shares when film critics passed personal remarks against him. He says, “I was new in the industry, mujhe criticism se problem nahi thi. Kya hota hai na ki, I had an issue where kuch critics criticism chod ke personal ho jaate the. I am OK, jaise mere hisse criticism aaya tha ki ‘Riteish is as wooden as a furniture in a furniture shop in the movie.’”

He further said, “I was okay, theek hai, sikhne ko milega. ‘Riteish is as irritating as a flickering tube light’ kyonki ek scene mein main blink kar raha tha, toh ek critic ne aisa likha tha. I don’t have an issue with this, kyonki kuch sikh hi deke jaayega. Par jab woh personal hote hain, toh mujhe woh khatarnak lagta hai—personal kyun ho rahe hain mere saath?”

He continued with, “So that time my father had said a very nice thing. He said, ‘Tumhara kaam kya hai? Aise acting karna. Unka kaam kya hai? Aise ham jo kaam kar rahe hain us par tippani karna.Unko apnanka kaam karne do, tum apna kaam karo aur aage badho.’

He added, “And at that point, I realised ki the only thing I should concentrate on is how to better my craft and take the best thread out of criticism. Kisi ko pasand nahi aaya toh, which means they are expecting me to be better than what I am, and I will take it. Take that in my stride.”

He concluded with “Toh yes, when you say ki pahle mujhe criticism se takleef thi—criticism se takleef nahi thi, jo log personal hote the unse takleef hoti thi. Par abhi woh bhi chhod diya. Abhi kya matlab, aap social media par ho toh kya hi aap problem loge personal hone se?”
