There was a time when audiences only knew actors through the characters they played on television. Today, things are very different. Actor Sagar Parekh feels this change closely, especially after spending years in television, reality shows, and the digital space. Sagar, who has impressed viewers with diverse roles across media. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, revealed that he believes the audience’s love has now become far more personal than before. Read on to know what the actor had to share.

Sagar Parekh Reveals How Audience Changed Over The Years

Sagar Parekh, who received immense appreciation for playing Samar in Anupamaa, said the emotional connection viewers had with his character completely changed his life. According to him, television earlier made people fall in love with fictional characters, but social media has now shifted that attention towards the real person behind the screen.

Sharing his thoughts on how fandom has evolved, Sagar Parekh said, “Earlier, television made people love the character that you played. Today, social media makes people connect with you as a person. When I was doing shows like Anupamaa, people emotionally connected with Samar. They cried with him, rooted for him, and somewhere that love changed my life.”

The actor admitted that his understanding of the audience changed after reality shows, interviews, reels, and online interactions became a regular part of his journey. He feels people today are more interested in honesty and authenticity than in maintaining a perfect image.

“After reality shows, reels, interviews and social media, I realised the audience is now on authenticity beyond the screen,” Sagar shared. “The biggest shift is that today, fans don’t just watch you for 30 minutes on television or on the silver screen for approximately two to two-and-a-half hours. They follow your journey daily now.”

Sagar Parekh On Emotional Support From Audiences

Sagar further explained that fans today celebrate every achievement but also quietly stand beside artists during difficult phases. He believes that emotional support from audiences has become much stronger in recent years because people now see actors as real individuals rather than distant celebrities.“They celebrate your wins, notice your bad days, and support your growth. That connection feels more personal and real,” he said.

Looking back at his own career, Sagar called his growth gradual and fulfilling. From television dramas to reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and now social media, he feels every platform has revealed a different side of his personality to viewers. “Television gave me recognition, but social media gave me a voice. And honestly, I’m grateful that people have accepted both – the actor and the human being behind the actor,” he concluded.
