EXCLUSIVE: Soniya Bansal Reveals Why She Instantly Said Yes To The Last Breath; Shares, “This Film Is About Climate Change”

Soniya Bansal has been making her mark in showbiz by taking up diverse projects and exploring different kinds of roles across mediums. The actress is now gearing up to entertain audiences with her upcoming film The Last Breath. While the film has already travelled across several film festivals, it is now set to screen at the upcoming Jagran Film Festival, giving the project another opportunity to reach a wider audience.

For Soniya Bansal, The Last Breath was a project that immediately caught her attention because of the subject it deals with. The actress revealed that she decided to come on board after hearing the story for the first time. Unlike projects where actors may take time before making a decision, the film’s story instantly connected with her.

Talking about what made her say yes to The Last Breath, Soniya said, “The first time I heard the story, it was about nature, and I really liked it. In fact, I said yes to the film the very first time I heard the narration. The film is about climate change and the way our climate is being affected today. People cut down trees, but we need to protect them because deforestation affects the climate. The film conveys the same message.”

The film is set in Mumbai and revolves around a group of Adivasi people living in a particular area. Their fight to protect their land and trees forms an important part of the story. Soniya plays one of the Adivasi characters in the film and feels that the subject makes the project different from a routine commercial story.

Giving a glimpse into her character without revealing the film’s surprises, Soniya shared, “It is a story set in Mumbai, where a group of Adivasi people live in a particular area. They have fought and struggled hard to protect their land and have not allowed the trees there to be cut down. I play one of the Adivasi characters in the film.”

The film’s journey through film festivals has also made the project special for Soniya. The actress is happy that The Last Breath is reaching audiences through different platforms and getting people to talk about its central issue.

Soniya believes the film can make audiences think about the impact of climate change and what the future could look like if the problem continues to grow. Speaking about its festival screenings, she said, “The film has already been screened at several film festivals, and I am very happy that people are getting to know about it. It would be great if more people try to understand the issue because we are currently facing a serious climate problem, and the film highlights exactly that. I hope it helps people realise how much worse things could get in the coming years because of climate change.”
