Tusshar Kapoor On Shor In The City Gaining Recognition After Release

When asked if there was a film that didn’t work initially but found appreciation later, Tusshar Kapoor said, “Not a failure, but I remember Shor In The City got great reviews. It wasn’t a box office bonanza at that point in time. It kind of went a little unnoticed as far as the wider audience was concerned. But over a period of time, and after it came on satellite and other platforms, the film got much more appreciation. So, it must have been a commercial failure at that point, but it eventually turned out to be a success for me. Today, it’s something that I look back at with pride.”

Tusshar Kapoor On Box Office Pressure

Speaking of box office pressure today, the actor said, “There’s always box office pressure—probably even more now—because there are so many variables. People don’t just go and watch films out of habit anymore. They go only if they genuinely want to watch a particular film. So, that’s a challenge: pulling audiences into theatres. Aur ab sab kuch bahut unpredictable ho gaya hai. Kabhi-kabhi films bahut trend karti hain, lekin opening upar-neeche ho jaati hai. Baarish aa jaati hai, ya war ho jaata hai, ya do-chaar films ek saath release ho jaati hain. Kabhi pandemic aa jaata hai.”

He continued, “So, the box office pressure is even greater now. Earlier, I think it was a little more predictable. It was mostly about whether the film was good or not. Now it’s not just about whether a film is good or whether people like it. There are so many other variables, and you have to deal with so many things that can come in the way of a movie. The obstacles are far greater now.”

Tusshar On Dealing With Failure

Tusshar also opened up on dealing with failures over the years. He said, “Obviously, after being in this industry for so many years, I think one learns the art of picking yourself up again, starting over, and getting back into the battle zone. That process happens much faster now. Agar ab koi film nahi chalti, I accept it much more graciously than I did when I was younger. I think that comes with confidence and experience.”

The actor continued, “But yes, disappointment and happiness are both still there, and that will never change. Every film is a new film. Every day is a new day. You never really get used to success or failure. Every success is different, and every failure is different.”

Tusshar Reveals How He Deals With Failure Now

Speaking of how the actor deals with flops, Kapoor shared, “Pehle hum sochte the, “Yaar, agar picture Friday ya Saturday ko nahi chali aur hum bahar gaye, toh sab log humein hi dekh rahe honge.” Aisa hota nahi tha, but we started thinking like that. You become paranoid, and you start feeling self-conscious. Now, I think our attention span is so short that even people who rejected a movie have already moved on to the next one. Koi thehraav hi nahi raha. ‘Achha, yeh film nahi chali. Ab next kaunsi aa rahi hai?’Sab kuch bahut jaldi-jaldi ho jaata hai. Which is good in a way, because you also get to move on much faster.”

Tusshar was recently seen in Welcome to the Jungle alongside Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff and others. Additionally, he recently starred in the adult comedy Mastiii 4, which was released in November 2025. The actor is gearing up for the release of Golmaal 5.
