It’s been a year since Irrfan Khan left for his heavenly abode. The noted actor breathed his last on April 29, 2021, after two years of battle with neuroendocrine tumour. Babil Khan’s Instagram page is a box full of memories of his late father, Irrfan. Here are some memories which will take you through his life and journey.

For the uninitiated, Babil’s parents met at the theatre institute — the National School of Drama, and featured together in several plays. In March, Babil treated Irrfan’s fans with an unseen photo of his parents from a play they did over three decades ago and a selfie they clicked together years later. “Mamma and baba in NSD cut to mamma and baba 35 years later,” he captioned the image. Such fond memories!

These photos, shared by Babil, are proof of the unconditional love between Irrfan and his wife Sutapa. While posting the image, Babil captioned it, “It’s true, time does indeed slow down in the spaces between your breaths. And once you’ve dreamed of more, how could you settle for less. Perhaps, it was over because you knew. Or perhaps, because I grew. But the sky isn’t so blue When the sun is setting over you (sic).”While sharing the second post, on the right, in which Irrfan seems to be sharing a moment with wife Sutapa, apparently on a film’s set, where he can be seen whispering something to her, Babil wrote some thoughtful words. His caption read, “5 years too much, And now you’re a stranger 5 years in love, Pickin straws out the haystack Flicking through the picket pages Of the books I never read through. And that’s just one half of it The other half is you, Gleaming through the wicked winter moon, I wish I could fit in your shoes. You have gone so far away. And I’m always just a little too late. Plucking the strings of my sitar to soothe, These Monday morning blues And I carried on like the wayward son, In the wayward sun, but I found myself roaming the wastelands. I was high when I witnessed my mother cry. I might never win. For, never will forget me, the unforgivable sin. Blood on her lips crippled my heart. Pierced my soul like an adamant dart. Ma, my ma, tell me you love me too. Ma, my ma, I would give it all for you. (Yo bro, u know I love you more than life itself. ) @sikdarsutapa (sic).”

Sharing a throwback photo of his dad, Babil wrote some thoughtful words alongside it, expressing how much he misses him and would rather keep dreaming about him than waking up to calls of film offers. “For in my dreams, I have no knowledge of your desertion. In my dreams today, you told me you were about to leave me and you held me for so long. Imagine the fact that I just woke up cause my phone rang for yet another offer to act, for yet another film. Now what sense does all this make without you Baba? I’d rather keep dreaming. (Tears make it hard to type, someone invent a phone for people that cry a lot plis),” Babil captioned the photo.
