Tamil actor-comedian Vivekh breathed his last on April 17 after suffering a heart attack. He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Chennai on April 16 morning. On April 15, he took his first jab of Covid-19 vaccine at a government hospital and also urged everyone to get vaccinated. The hospital where he was admitted released a statement that read: “This is an acute coronary syndrome with cardiogenic shock. This is a separate Cardiac event. It may not be due to COVID vaccination”.

“Actor Padma Shri Dr. Vivek was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by 11:00 am today to the emergency by the family members. He was resuscitated in the emergency room by specialists. Later he underwent Emergency Coronary Angiogram followed by Angioplasty. He is currently in critical condition on ECMO in the Intensive Care Unit,” read the statement.

Mohanlal gave his “Heartfelt condolences” to Vivekh.

Dulquer Salmaan is also heartbroken at the news of his death. “RIP Vivek Sir ! Broken heartBroken heart something about watching you on screen always made one feel like we’ve known you forever. This is truly heartbreaking,” he wrote on social media.

Rajinikanth also mourned the death of Vivekh. Both worked in several movies together.

AR Rahman wrote, “@Actor_Vivek can’t believe you’ve left us ..May you rest in peace ..you’ve entertained us for decades ..your legacy will stay with us”.

“Ahhh.. #vivek …gone too soon dear friend ..thank you for planting thoughts n trees …thank you for entertaining and empowering us with your wit and humour..will miss you…RIP,” wrote Prakash Raj.

“My wife @sridevibkapoor was a big fan of actor Vivek she had got me hooked to his hilarious acts. Your presence and humour will be missed by all. I pray for strength to his family at this difficult time. #RIPVivek,” wrote Boney Kapoor.

For the unversed, Vivekh worked in over 200 movies and he won many awards that include three Filmfares for Best Comedian roles. He was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to Tamil Cinema in 2009.
