Popular Filmmaker Mani Ratnam who was not keeping well for the past few days has tested COVID positive. The Six-time National Award-winning filmmaker has been admitted to Chennai’s Apollo hospital for treatment. Doctors are yet to share the medical bulletin regarding his health.

Fans and friends of the legendary director have been sharing their prayers for Mani Ratnam and wishing him a speedy recovery. Mani Ratnam’s wife and actress Suhasini Mani Ratnam is yet to share details about his health.

As reported by sources to News 18, “Mani Ratnam has been hospitalised to isolate himself as he has parents who are aged above 90,” the source added.

Mani Ratnam recently attended the teaser launch of  Ponniyin Selvan, which took place on July 8.  He has been busy with the post-production work of the film.

Ponniyin Selvan is based on a novel of the same title, and the film’s story is based on the Chola dynasty. The historical film has been made on a massive budget, and it will be released simultaneously in five languages – Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

The Magnum opus features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi playing lead roles. AR Rahman scored the tunes for this period film based on the Chola dynasty. The movie also features Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Kishore, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi in pivotal roles.

Ponniyin Selvan directed by Ratnam is all set to release in two parts. The first part is scheduled for a grand release on September 30 in multiple languages.
