Samantha Ruth Prabhu Confesses She And Raj Nidimoru Were ‘Okay’ Not Having Kids; Says, “This Pregnancy Is A Surprise”

After keeping their relationship secret, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in December 2025. Months later, in June this year, the newlyweds announced that they were expecting their first child together. As Sam and Raj gear up to embrace parenthood, the actress recently revealed that the pregnancy was a ‘surprise for them.’ She also confessed that they were both prepared not to have children. During a recent interaction with THR India, Samantha Ruth Prabhu got candid about her pregnancy and how this was a surprise for both her and Raj Nidimoru. Revealing that they were okay with not having children before they got the news of her pregnancy, the actress said, “I had reached a place where I was okay. Like, both Raj and I were okay with, maybe we can’t have kids. Maybe we will. I was okay with either. I was fine, and so was he.” She added with a light, “So, this is a surprise.”

Shedding light on how she feels about it now that she’s pregnant, Sam continued, “The first day I was shooting for (the song) Thassadiya, I found out. I had just found out, and I had to go and do the steps. I was having a little bit of sickness at that time. I guess everything just aligned. And now, I am truly excited. Everyone tells me that having a child changes your entire life. I think I am ready for that change.”

For those who don’t know, Thassadiya is a song from Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s recently released film Maa Inti Bangaaram. The action comedy drama released in theatres on June 19, 2026. A day later – while promoting the film at an event, she announced her pregnancy.

Since then, the actress has regularly taken to social media and shared videos and photos from her pregnancy journey. These include glimpses of her baby-bump, candid updates about the changes that come with it, her baby shower and more. During a recent ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Instagram, Sam also opened up about shopping for the baby. During the session, she even invited questions from fellow mothers-to-be and new mothers.

Samantha married Raj Nidimoru on December 1 at Linga Bhairavi temple inside Isha Yoga center in Coimbatore.
