Jennifer Lopez on parenting post separation from Ben Affleck
Speaking to British Vogue, Jennifer Lopez described her experience of parenting twins as a beautiful, challenging blessing. The singer highlighted that being a parent is the hardest job anyone could ever have. She emphasized the struggle of wanting to present the best version of herself for her children while navigating her own challenges, relationships, and personal aspirations. “It’s about wanting to put your best face forward for them, but also being a woman who grapples with her own dreams and struggles,” she explained.
The 55-year-old actress also reflected on some of the emotional complexities portrayed in her film, particularly Judy Robles’s tumultuous relationship with her abusive ex-husband and the effects on her son. Lopez shared, “I’ve been in that same situation, wondering if I should give this person another chance. I don’t think there’s anyone who hasn’t faced a similar dilemma, man or woman.”
Lopez has been honest about her moments of self-doubt as a single parent. She revealed to Entertainment Weekly that playing Judy Robles has been a therapeutic experience for her. “I’ve experienced being a single mom at different times and often questioned, ‘Am I enough for them?’” she reflected, referring to her children with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
She concluded, “The truth is, all you really need is one good parent to love you.” She found this sentiment echoed in Anthony’s journey and achievements showcased in the film, stating, “That’s what the movie imparted to me: You are enough.”
