Dwayne Johnson recently opened up about his wish to be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig. The 49-year-old actor was recently seen along with Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in the Netflix movie Red Notice and he is aiming for the legendary 007 agent character next. So far the legendary James Bond was played by Daniel Craig and he was last seen in No Time To Die.

In an interview with Esquire, Dwayne revealed his connection to James Bond movies. He said that his grandfather, Peter Maivia was part of the franchise. But Peter played the Bond villain in You Only Live Twice. Dwayne said, “My grandfather [Peter Maivia] was a Bond villain in You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery. Very, very cool.”

Johnson said that he was inspired by his grandfather but he does not want to be the villain as he is aiming for the lead hero, “I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond. I don’t want to be a villain. Gotta be Bond.”

Talking about the Bond actors, so far the unbeatable agent has been played by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan.

So far rumours about the casting for the Bond movie is underway and many names have been on the table. On the list so far is Tom Hardy, Sam Heughan, Regé Jean Page, Idris Elba, Richard Madden, Luke Evans and Tom Hiddleston.
