Divya Khosla Kumar

She is a wife, a mother, an actress and also a filmmaker — and her multiple roles never give a dull moment to Divya Khosla Kumar, who feels women are born multi-taskers and no matter how ambitious a lady becomes, her family and home tops the priority list.

Asked how she juggles between her professional and personal life and if it gets difficult to play so many roles at a time, Divya told IANS: “I think at times it just consumes your energy. At times it becomes very hectic and this is the time when you need a day off but you don’t get it.

“But having said, I think it’s your passion, energy and enthusiasm that keeps you going. Women are born multi-taskers, so no matter how ambitious we become in our career, we always put our family and homes first and that’s what I do.”

The actress-filmmaker is married to T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar. The couple has a son named Ruhaan.

Divya started her career in Bollywood as an actor with the 2004 film ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo’. She also appeared in several music videos with one starring Salman Khan. In 2014, she directed her first Bollywood project ‘Yaariyan’, and then ‘Sanam Re’, which released earlier this year.

Is she going to work on another script with a focus on love and romance?

“‘Yaariyan’ was like a college adventure film, it was more about flirtation… When you are in your teens, you hardly know about pure love and true love so it was more about college life and fun. On the other hand, ‘Sanam Re’ was more intense and about finding a soulmate.

“I finished two films back-to-back, so I got really tired. It got really hectic for me. I have also got a son, so I am taking a little break and trying to recover my energy. Once I am done with the break of two to three months, I will start deciding what I want to do next.”

But what about her acting career? Has that taken a backseat?

“I did a dance number recently. I am just open to whatever opportunity comes up. If I feel good about taking them up, I will definitely take them up. But it should relate to me. I am very selective,” she said.

A former model, Divya walked the Lakme Fashion Week ramp here for designer brand GARO, brainchild of designer duo Priyangsu Maji and Sweta Tantia.

She looked no less than a diva with her effervescence and hourglass frame.

Asked if she is careful with her style statement in her day-to-day life as well, Divya told IANS: “I have so many young girls following me and taking inspiration from me, so looking good does matter to me. I have to make sure that I am well-dressed. Even if you are working, your look should be nice and elegant.

“When I am in office or shooting films, I am not dressed as though I am a fashion icon, but yes I need to look nice and presentable,” she said, adding that the fashion police doesn’t bother her at all.
