Arjun Kapoor refused to wear helmet at a road safety awareness event

Actor Arjun Kapoor apparently refused to wear a helmet at a road safety awareness event hosted by the Delhi Traffic Police at India Gate on Tuesday evening. The actor who was shooting for ‘Half Girlfriend’ with Shraddha Kapoor in Delhi had to rush back for his shoot and hence was in a hurry.

When the traffic cops requested him to wear a helmet and sit on the bike and then sit in a car and wear the seatbelt for pictures, were a bit disappointed as the actor refused to wear a helmet and instead agreed to only pose with the helmet.

The traffic policeman reported to a leading daily, “He’s endorsing some automobile brand, and if his photos riding another vehicle come out, it would create issues for him. We understood his concern and he posed with the helmet, which is fine. Visitors to India Gate who saw him came to see him, so our purpose of creating awareness about road safety was served.”

Also, Arjun spoke about road safety at length and praised the hard work and efforts of the cops. He said that films are not for learning bike stunts and we have schools for learning. Films are purely for entertainment. He also revealed that he doesn’t ride a bike as his mom has advised him against riding one, and only rides the two-wheeler in a movie. They have specially got helmets for the shoot of ‘Half Girlfriend’.

The Delhi Traffic Police has heavily reduced drunken driving cases in the last one month, and Arjun also urged people to not drink and drive. “You can call a taxi if you’re drunk. There are so many apps on our phone. Things have become so much easier now.”

Arjun has only one complaint with the traffic rules and that is regarding tinted glass windows for cars. Because he feels, it becomes easy for people to spot celebs sitting in car, what with transparent glass windows. But, since the law doesn’t permit it, he has removed the black screens from his car windows. Author Chetan Bhagat was also present at the event, and he and Arjun thanked the Delhi Traffic Police for ensuring the smooth running of their shoot.
