Shah Rukh Khan

25 years in the industry, and he still feels like a newcomer. No, it’s not mere humbleness. Shah Rukh Khan, whatsoever his share of triumphs and disasters have been, knows the real taste of failure. More importantly, he knows failure is what can actually pave the way of comeback for you.

Recently, Khan was in a conversation with GQ magazine. He not only spoke at length about his take on success and failure, but also narrated how these moments are a true tool of realisation.

“Failure is something you face alone. Success has a lot of masters, friends and well-wishers. But failure is lonely. Still, it’s just as textured as success… It’s almost impossible to replicate either. With success, you can do everything you did before, but you’re not guaranteed the same results. It’s why you can’t pass success on to your children,” SRK said. (Also Read: Oops! Kangana Ranaut loses a film with Shah Rukh Khan?)

“When you talk to extremely successful people, they often sound cagey or vague when they’re talking about their accomplishments. It’s not because they’re hiding a secret; they genuinely don’t know how to explain their success. Failure is like that too. The only difference is that success comes with confetti and streamers; failure is that corner you go back to. You deal with it, and then you wake up and start all over again. It’s a process of emotional detoxification,” he added.

For anyone who has made constant efforts to better his life and hasn’t given up despite all odds, these feelings would surely feel relatable.

“f you fail repeatedly at something, it can tell you that perhaps you’re not cut out for it. It can make you look at a situation more carefully, so you avoid repeating certain mistakes. It strips you of arrogance and can shake you out of your complacency. It can make you more humble and focused. But I think we say these things to make ourselves feel better, because the truth is, failure feels like crap. But it’s also inevitable,” SRK sings off.

Retrospecting inside yourself, are you?
