Ameesha Patel On Why She Is Not Acting, Upcoming Projects
When asked why she is not acting, Ameesha Patel said, “I think the films are too choosy for me. No, but that’s gonna change—26, 27, 28 mein aap Ameesha ko bahut zyada dekhoge.”
Speaking of her upcoming projects, the actress said, “No, we won’t talk about the line-up. But all I can say is—bahut dekhoge, achhi filmon mein dekhoge. And I think mere saath yeh bhi hua tha in many ways ki benchmark pehli film onward se, for numerous films, itna high set hogaya tha, which is not possible to maintain for any actor, not even Shah Rukh ya Mr Bachchan can maintain that.”
Ameesha On Expectations From Actors’
She continued, “Aur thoda sa bhi woh neeche hota tha, toh people would say, ‘Oh, it’s not up to the mark.’ Films not up to the mark. But Gadar baar-baar nahi ho paati. Gadar ke records beat karne ke liye Gadar 2 ko aana pada. You know, kisi film ne nahi beat ki thi. So it’s difficult. But logon ko, aur yeh mere liye better bhi tha ki on one side you are enjoying, ‘Wow, hit pe hit, cult hits’, path-breaking hits, record-breaking hits. But then to match up, expectations are also a lot.”
The Gadar actress concluded, “So if you falter a little, and I think this is what the biggest superstars like Shah Rukh, Salman, Sunny, all of them keep facing. Jahan unka thoda bhi neeche jaata hai… but it’s not possible to maintain that. The fact that they have been here for 35+ years and continue to be loved and wanted speaks volumes. Abhi upar-neeche toh hota rahega.”
