Thalapathy Vijay can finally breathe a sign of relief. As per a recent media report, the upcoming political action thriller – believed to be Vijay’s last film, is finally releasing in cinemas after a long battle with the CBFC. According to the report, the film will hit the big screens on May 8, 2026, worldwide.

As per a Pinkvilla report, Thalapathy Vijay-led Jana Nayagan has risen above its perils and is all set to release globally next month. As per their report, the political action thriller will release in cinemas worldwide on May 8. While the news is still not confirmed by the makers or actors, a release date announcement can be expected in some time.

The publication noted that the movie will be released after the Tamil Nadu election results. The actor and his party’s performance during the election will play a huge part in how well the film’s performs at the box office. However, Vijay’s star power is sure to draw fans to theatres in huge numbers given that this will likely be his last film. Word-of-mouth reports will hold weightage but not in the initial few days as the craze for the film is currently super high.

The upcoming writers political action thriller is directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. Alongside Vijay, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju in pivotal roles. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani are also part of the film’s ensemble cast.

A remake of the 2023 Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, the film was initially set to release on Janusry 9. However, due to CBFC delays, the film’ release was postponed to April 9. While the film got delayed once more, it also got leaked online, leading to massive losses to the makers. It will now hit worldwide theaters on May 8.
