Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela' movie

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a maverick genius. The filmmaker is known for churning out grandeur sequences from mere scenes that are written on paper. After a gap of three years since his last released directorial ‘Guzaarish’, SLB returned to director’s chair with a film that went on to set the screen on fire with the lead pair’s sizzling chemistry. No points for guessing, it was his 2013 release ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’ which featured the beautiful pair of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. And it was today on November 15, that this film had hit the screens witnessing this jodi for the first time together.

‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’ was indeed a unique and special film. It was the first time when filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali teamed up with Ranveer and Deepika. After this, the trio went on to deliver another timeless tale of love and royalty, ‘Bajirao Mastani’. They are uniting again in their soon to release ‘Padmavati’. Coming back to ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’, we simply can’t get over their magical chemistry, even now, so many years after the release. (Also Read: Ranveer Singh’s next ’83, as Kapil Dev, locks a release date!)

When it comes to their performances, Deepika Padukone was absolutely stunning in every scene and one simply could not take eyes off her. Ranveer Singh delivered one of his best performances till that point of time, with his character expressing the intensity and so many mixed emotions, beautifully. Apart from them, Supriya Pathak Kapur as Dhankor Baa, Leela’s mother, deserves special mention for her menacing performance. Every dialogue she delivered was pitch perfect. Richa Chadha’s character was equally supportive throughout the film. And who could forget the stunning dance number ‘Ram Chahe Leela’ which featured Priyanka Chopra. ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’ is also remembered for its songs, that were composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which added more to the magical chemistry shared between Ranveer and Deepika. Be it ‘Ang Laga De’ or ‘Lahu Muh Lag Gaya’, every moment literally went on to set the screens on fire.

To top it all, like an icing on the cake, though a rumour, but it was during the shoots of this movie, when Ranveer and Deepika came close to each other, and eventually started dating. Makes it all the more special, doesn’t it?

Well, ‘Goliyon Ki Ras Leela Ram Leela’ indeed made Deepika the eternal muse of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with Ranveer in tow as the evergreen hero who could pull off any role with a swag, panache, and intensity.
