Ranveer Singh in '83 movie

Recently, actor Ranveer Singh shared that he has wrapped up his work on the magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ where he plays the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji. After finishing his work on this, the actor is currently preparing himself for yet another character from real life, that of a legendary star cricketer. No points for guessing, the actor is playing the role of Kapil Dev in filmmaker Kabir Khan’s upcoming directorial ‘83. Many would be aware that this film will narrate the story of India’s incredible 1983 cricket World Cup victory.

And today, there’s a latest news about this much-anticipated project. The makers have locked the release date and it is scheduled to hit the screens in the year 2019. Reliance Entertainment has taken to its Twitter handle to share this news with everyone writing, “.@RelianceEnt & @FuhSePhantom in association with Vibri Media & Kabir Khan Films to release ‘83 on 5th April 2019!” [sic] (Also Read: Kabir Khan is all praises for Ranveer Singh and ‘Padmavati’ trailer)

Shibasish Sarkar, Chief Operating Officer, Reliance Entertainment has said in his statement, “Winning the ’83 cricket World Cup was a very proud moment for us as Indians and we at Reliance Entertainment aim to bring back those glorious moments for the current and future generations through this film.” [sic]

While according to Madhu Mantena of Phantom Films and Vishnu Vardhan Induri of Vibri Media, “It’s a story waiting to be told” and one that the “country needs to know”. [sic]

This will be for the first time when Ranveer Singh will be teaming up with director Kabir Khan for a feature film.
