There are very few actresses who have been able to make a definitive impact through their performances and make a mark for themselves in the Hindi film industry. Kajol is certainly one of them. As a performer, she is probably one of the best artistes Indian cinema has ever witnessed. She has delivered many memorable roles in movies like ‘Dushman’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…’, ‘Fanaa’. And one cannot forget her character of Simran from ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, the eternal heroine of an immortal love saga.

Though ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ was a major turning point in her career, it wasn’t the starting point. Many would be aware that this talented performer had faced the camera for the first time for director Rahul Rawail’s romantic drama ‘Bekhudi’. Kajol had made her acting debut at the age of 17 with this film opposite debutant actor Kamal Sadanah. The movie even featured veteran actress and her mother Tanuja, who played the character of her on-screen mother as well. Although the film didn’t perform well at the box office, her performance got her noticed. The following year, Kajol’s second film ‘Baazigar’ was released and after that, there was no looking back for this talented performer who went on to give one outstanding performance after the other, grabbing the top spot.

The actress only took a break in the year 1999, after her marriage to her co-star Ajay Devgn. Kajol cut down on her work, but continued to feature in films that were nothing less than a treat for her fans and admirers.
