Actor Dhanush is currently promoting his upcoming film Idli Kadai and shared an exciting update about the long-awaited sequel to Vada Chennai. He confirmed that Vada Chennai 2 will begin shooting in 2026 and hit theatres in 2027.

Dhanush Confirms Vada Chennai 2 In 2026

Speaking at a recent press meet, Dhanush said, “Vada Chennai 2 shooting will begin in 2026. The movie will release in theatres in 2027.” The first film, released in 2018, told the story of Anbu, a carrom player who gets caught up in the crime and politics of North Chennai. It ended on a cliffhanger, and fans have been waiting eagerly for the sequel. The original cast featured Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, Kishore, Daniel Balaji, Samuthirakani, and Pawan.

Emotional Moment During Idli Kadai Promotions

During promotions, Dhanush became emotional after hearing the heartfelt words of a child actor’s mother. Her son plays young Dhanush in the film. She said, “I’ve been a fan of Dhanush sir for a long time. When he asked my son to act in his film, I felt pure joy. Thank you so much.” The touching tribute brought Dhanush to tears.

About Idli Kadai

The trailer of Idli Kadai has been released and introduces Dhanush’s character, Murugan, who wants to modernise his family’s idli shop. His father, however, believes traditional methods are best. Murugan later works in hotel management under Ashwin (Arun Vijay), but betrayal forces him to return home and fight for his family’s legacy.

Idli Kadai, co-produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, stars Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, and Shalini Pandey. Initially planned for April, the film will now release worldwide on October 1, 2025.
