Dulquer Salmaan on why Malayalam industry has not churned pan India film

The actor said, “Especially, post Covid, and with the advent of OTT, I think now if you want to draw people to the theatres, you have to offer a theatrical experience, and it has to be some kind of spectacle. People need that value for money. They need entertainment on a larger scale. So having always been budget focused, I think we are always wary of going bigger. But, I think this whole lockdown and people watching our cinema is now making us face across.

Further, he also said, “So, now I think we have a lot more courage to push that. And I think, in my journey, very organically working in the industry, now I feel I can dub my films and bring it to audiences everywhere. So with this, we pushed as much as we could. In terms of budget and scale, we went all out. It’s the biggest film we have produced as a company. And the goal is to give the spectacle, the big theatrical experience.”

The actor went on to express that so many more stories from various cultures have been coming up. It includes a film like Kantara which grabbed attention of audiences. Some films are made on a big scale and some are not! The audience is spoiled for choice, added Dulquer. The trailer for Dulquer Salmaans’ King Of Kotha was released a week ago.
