Vijay Thalapathy's Jana Nayagan Nears Censor Review Date

Thalapathy Vijay-led Jana Nayagan is reportedly close to receiving certification from the CBFC, sparking hopes for an imminent release. Fans are eagerly awaiting this action-packed project directed by H Vinoth, which has been awaiting censorship approval for some time. Recent reports suggest that the certification process may soon be completed, bringing the film closer to theatres.

Vijay Thalapathy Led Jana Nayagan Nears Censor Review Date

According to Valai Pechu, the film’s producers received an email from the CBFC Revising Committee, scheduled to review Jana Nayagan on March 9, 2026, at 2 p.m. If all goes smoothly, certification could be granted immediately afterwards, allowing the team to finalise release plans. Initially set for a January release on Pongal, the film missed that window due to pending certification. Without the CBFC approval, a theatrical release remained on hold.

Yash’s Toxic Postponement

The delay in Jana Nayagan coincided with the postponement of Yash’s Toxic. It was originally slated for release on March 19, 2026. The producers of Toxic announced a new release date of June 4, 2026, citing the current situation in Middle Eastern countries. This postponement created an open slot in the release calendar. This could benefit Vijay’s film, especially given the lack of major releases around that time.

When Will Jana Nayagan Release Post Review?

Sources from the Valai Pechu YouTube channel suggest that the Jana Nayagan team hopes the CBFC will complete its review and issue certification by March 17, 2026. If approved on time, the film could potentially premiere earlier than planned, possibly in late April or early May — aligning with the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, expected in the third week of April.

Should the film receive clearance before then, it could capitalise on the election season’s buzz. However, an official release date has not yet been confirmed by the makers.
