National Award-winning playback singer and the daughter of the legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja, Bhavatharini, passed away on Thursday at the age of 47. It was reported that she was battling liver cancer and undergoing Ayurveda treatment in Sri Lanka. Bhavatharini’s tragic demise has left the Kollywood industry in shock and several celebrities have extended heartfelt condolences.

Mourning the untimely demise of Bhavatharini, Kamal Haasan wrote, “The heart is throbbing. I don’t know what to do with my dear brother Ilayaraja. I grab his hands mentally. Bhavadharini’s demise is something that cannot be tolerated or accepted. My brother Ilayaraja should not lose heart in this greatness. My heartfelt condolences to the family of Bhavadharini.”

As Bhavatharini passes away, Shruti Haasan shared, “Rest in peace dear Bhavatha … kind and beautiful, I’ll never forget us playing the piano together and you teaching me with such love I hope you find your angels, sweetheart .. your artistic contributions and achievements as a woman in music is a meaningful and inspiring legacy.”

Meanwhile, Keerthy Suresh penned down, “Devastated hearing this news! May god give all the strength to the family.”

Power Star Pawan Kalyan shared an official note that read, “It is very heartbreaking to learn the news about Bhavatharini’s death. She has contributed a lot to the music industry and won National Award as Best Singer. While she had a great future ahead, saddening to know about her demise. My heartfelt condolences to Ilaiyaraaja garu and family.”

Tamil actor Silambarasan, popularly called STR also expressed condolence on his Twitter handle. He wrote, “The voice that forever lives in the heart of the people for its innocence and love! You were a pure soul! Gone too soon! I pray to God to give strength to the family of Illayaraja sir and my brother @thisisysr at this moment! Rest in peace Bhavatharini. #Bhavatharini #RIP.

The late singer is survived by her husband R Sabariraj. Her mortal remains is expected to be brought back to Chennai on January 26, where the final rites will be conducted.
