Superstar Rajinikanth, during his media interaction at Poes Garden house in Chennai today, October 24, reacted to his Dadasaheb Phalke win. In a brief meeting, he said that he was not expecting this coveted award. He said, “I’m very happy that I won the Dadasaheb Phalke award. I never expected that I’d get the award. I’m sad that KB sir (K Balachandar) is not alive when I get this award. “Rajinikanth, who was very close to KB, had made his acting debut with late director K Balachander’s Apoorva Ragangal in the year 1975.

For the unversed, in April 2021, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that Superstar Rajinikanth will be conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema for the past four decades. While the announcement was made in April, the award ceremony was delayed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The ceremony will now take place tomorrow i.e. on October 25 in Delhi.
