Darbar actor and South Superstar Rajinikanth will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. It is the highest honour for an artiste in Indian Cinema. The news was announced by the Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday. Rajinikanth was congratulated by many actors and artists in the industry and Yevadu star Ram Charan also made sure to extend his wishes to the legend.

Soon to be seen in RRR, Ram took to his Twitter account and congratulating Rajinikanth he wrote, “Congratulations Super Star @rajinikanth Garu on being conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Your contributions to the world of Cinema gets it’s due recognition.”

Earlier, Rajinikanth expressed his gratitude for being conferred with such a great honour. He took to his Twitter and wrote, “For all the love,greetings & wishes I’ve received from eminent political leaders, my film fraternity friends & colleagues,well wishers,media, every person who took the time to wish me & my beloved fans from across India & all over the world .. my deepest gratitude and thanks ??”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajinikanth will be seen next in Annaatthe. The movie is directed by Siva and produced by Kalanithi Maran. Annaatthe will also star Meena, Khushbu, Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, and Vela Ramamoorthy.
